    Help with new driver shaft.(update)

    Hi.
    Newby question
When buying a new driver shaft is the tip ready for an adapter or do you need to trim it first ?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies.

Got a reply from Accra . Straight in for a driver .

Driver shafts are mostly straight in these days, however Taylormade tips everything 1". Going back 10+ years it was common to tip 1/2" on a driver. A shaft manufacturer usually has tipping instructions posted on their website, but that doesn't mean the driver manufacturers follow it. If you have a specific shaft, I suggest to research at GolfWRX forums for opinions.

Every manufacture will have a recommended shaft tipping length, some fitters will have their own suggestions if you go that route.

the general rule of thumb is that trimming the tip stiffens the shaft, and trimming the butt end "softens" the shaft

the tip of a new shaft is ready for a specific adapter be it. either 335 or .350. dia.
