    Whirlpool Restoration

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned in here yet, but this is really exciting news.

While not one of Thompson's flashiest or well known courses, it's a great track and it will be really interesting to see what Andrew can bring out through this restoration.

The original course record of 67 was set by Cary Middlecoff and then matched by the late Ken Trowbridge in the Ontatio Public Course Championship circa 1969-70. I played in it and shot 80, good for T-5 on a very windy day.

Seem to recall Julius Boros winning there, but can't find a thing about it. Grew up playing Whirlpool. Many great memories from back in the day when no one had two clubs in the bag that matched.

Weren't millions spent a number of years ago to work on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd holes?

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Not sure about the cost, but yes, those renovations were done almost 10 years ago or more.

The fact that Ian is attached to the project is probably the biggest part of the news. Be interesting to see how they keep it open and playable during the reno
