Just for Fun I Acquired These...

Yesterday, I picked up an excellent set of MacGregor Jack Nicklaus JNP forged cavity back irons for $80 . They have DG S300 shafts and very good Tour Wrap grips. The set is 3-SW but the SW is too ugly to play. With traditional lofts the PW is 49* just like the clubs I grew up with and played my best golf from 1969-1989.

Here is a sample picture and mine are just as nice. I probably will not play them as I bought them to remind me how much I loved MacGregor forgings, having owned 985 Silver Scots, Muirfield 20th Anniversary, VIP blades and other variants.

Take em for at least 1 test drive just to bring back fond memories.

Maybe my memory is a little fuzzy but I remember seeing Nicklaus irons at Canadian Tire in the mid-80s and drooling over them as a teenager.

Those were second line "retail" or sports store clubs, likely the Golden Bear model.

Hit them today at the range and for me they are far too heavy. They will stay in "fondle and stare status".
