Split HD cable to more than 1 TV ?

We only have 1 TV working with cable. We only have 1 HD receiver.
Some other TVs in the house with an internal receiver ... pick up some channels ... but some are missing, etc.

If I bought a HD receiver that works with my cable company ... would it work ?

or do I have to notify the cable company ?

    Yes and yes.

You'll have to let your cable company know about the new receiver, so that they can set things up on their end to make sure that receiver will get the content you've subscribed to.

MOST cable companies will allow at least 2 receivers at no extra cost, and don't care that you bought the receiver somewhere else.

With Rogers it's up to 5, at least with my plan.

There are probably some free features they'll sign you up for as well. I have 1Receiver/PVR, 2 HD receivers and 1 digital converter/receiver. I'm with Cogeco in oakville.
