    Possible Strike at LCBO

    Conveniently in the proper Forum.....

Well...who has stocked up? Is this going to happen? I have some sympathy for the workers. Sounds like issues concerning short hours for part timers is a difficult way for people to manage affairs.

However, like the garbage workers strike in Toronto of a few years ago, the union may risk really loosing any public support they may have if they start blocking the public's access to those stores that do remain in operation.

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!

We'll just dip into the homemade wine. I don't get terribly worked up about this sort of strike -- it's not a necessary service. Garbage strikes and transit strikes are bigger deals to me.

Strike won't bother me. My wife and I just got back from Jamaica a few weeks ago. We brought back 3 40's a couple 26's and a few of the small bottles. I don't drink at all and my wife drinks rarely. We're set for years.

I'm not overly worried. I have a good supply of wine here and I dont ever drink it. I can get beer from the beer store and other beers from the local grocery store who shouldnt be overly affected by the strike.

An Uncle of mine works for the LCBO. He's been part-time for a few years. One of the things I heard him mention was that Sundays are no longer some type of OT pay, or STAT pay. I think if you worked on a Sunday than you were paid time-and-a-half. I told him to suck it up, it's just Sunday.

Personally, I don't cross picket lines. If the LCBO goes out, I'll go to a bootlegger.

We stocked up on liquor last week. Beer and wine we can get at the grocery store and beer store. Though I do realize it is possible grocery stores may run short if the LCBO distribution is also on strike. In that case there is a Magnotta store not too far.

I'm sure they'll have managers holding the fort on reduced hours or something of the like. If not? who cares, I could probably benefit from a few weeks off the sauce....

With any luck, this will be the beginning of the end for the lcbo. I know, it is a long shot, but a guy can dream..

strike averted as a tentative deal has been agreed upon.

Bargaining team is unanimously recommending the union accept the deal so it sounds like they got what they wanted.

Meh, I mostly get growler fills at various microbreweries anyway.

Time to put the LCBO out to pasture. So many other options. When in Guelph I stop by http://www.dixonsdistilledspirits.com/services.html
I'm heading to Niagara Wednesday and will pop into the retail store at https://www.fortycreekwhisky.com/

Any other spirit locals TGNers can suggest I'm sure there are plenty!
